Shopify Pricing (2025): Which plan is right for my business?

You are not the only one who can use Shopify to create an online store.

As one of the leading e-commerce platforms in the market, Shopify has earned a solid reputation as a secure and easy-to-set-up solution for small to medium-sized businesses.

In this guide, we introduce the new Shopify pricing structure for 2025 and help you select the plan that best suits your business or idea.

Shopify Pricing and Plans: How Much Does Shopify Cost Per Month?

Although Shopify’s prices may seem a bit steep, Shopify is the best value on the market. With only two or three sales a month, you cover the cost of the Basic monthly plan.

Additionally, Shopify offers promotions, such as its current free 3-day trial plus 3 months of subscription for only $1 per month.

Below, we provide a detailed explanation of each of Shopify’s main plans. You can upgrade to the next plan at any time.

1. Basic Plan: $39/month (monthly) or $29/month (annual)

Are you starting a small business or an online store for an existing one? The basic plan is for you, since just 2 or 3 sales will cover the cost of the subscription. However, the 2.9% + 30¢ transaction fee will add up quickly if your products are expensive or you sell a large number of units.

2. Grow Plan: $105/month (monthly) or $79/month (annual)

As your online store grows in sales, the Grow plan enables you to access more detailed reporting and analytics, as well as advanced e-commerce automations, create gift cards, and implement abandoned cart recovery.

These features may not be necessary for a small online store, but as you expand, they will help you retain more customers. This is a suitable plan if you generate around €5,000 in monthly revenue.

3. Advanced Plan: $399/month (monthly) or $299/month (annual)

Suppose you already have an online store that generates invoices exceeding €10,000/month and have a customer base, multiple employees, and wish to expand into other countries. In that case, the Advanced plan is for you.

You can have shipping rates calculated by the best shipping companies, offering your customers multiple shipping options that include duties and import taxes, all calculated at checkout.

The online store is unlimited in terms of adding products and storage, so you can publish as many products and collections as you want.

Shopify Plus: (From 2300$/month)

Finally, Shopify Plus is their top plan, which starts at $2,000/month and requires high order volume and annual turnover (> 1 million euros per year).

Starter Plan: $5 / month

Another plan I’d like to discuss is the $ 5-per-month plan, known as Shopify Starter (formerly Shopify Lite).

Starter Plan Shopify

This plan serves as a plugin to add products to any website, blog, or social media platform, offering basic order management and analytics tools. It does not include tools to create your online store.

For example, if you already have a blog or website, you can add the Shopify plugin (even if your site is hosted on WordPress).

Which Shopify pricing plan is best for me?

If you’re looking to sell your products on social media or an existing website, I recommend starting with the Starter plan. It offers product pages and a complete, fully secure checkout process.

Once you start having sales, scale your store to a Basic plan. The basic plan costs $39 per month if paid monthly, or $29 per month if paid annually, with a 3-day free trial and 3 months for 1€ per month.

Climbing the price scale, the Grow plan costs $105/month (monthly) or $79/month (annual) and adds eCommerce automations and more detailed reports. It’s a good choice when you have a stable, long-term customer database.

The Advanced plan ($399/month; $299/month) provides support to help you expand your business internationally, with lower transaction fees and credit card charges.

Finally, the Shopify Plus plan, available to a select few (but not impossible), is designed for online stores with a high volume of orders and an annual revenue of at least $ 1 million.

Does Shopify have a free plan?

Shopify does not offer a free plan. However, all its plans include a free 3-day trial, which can be accessed without providing your card details to get started. If you’re not ready yet, after the trial, Shopify stores your store information for 2 years.

On the other hand, if your free Shopify trial has ended, you can extend your subscription for three months for just $ 1 per month.

Will Shopify give me a free domain name?

Shopify plans do not include a free domain name, but you can purchase one in the Shopify Domains section (approximately $ 10 per year) or connect an existing one. The domains section also provides tips on selecting a suitable domain name, along with information about subdomains and country code top-level domains (ccTLDs).

Before making a decision, we recommend consulting our guide to the best domain registrars, featuring offers on the most popular domain extensions.

Additional costs of Shopify

In addition to the cost of paying a monthly subscription to Shopify, as your store grows, you’ll need a premium theme and apps.

These are some of the costs most commonly associated with the use of Shopify:

  • Domain: It must be purchased separately from a domain name registrar, such as Namecheap, for approximately 15 euros per year.
  • Premium theme: While it is entirely possible to use a free Shopify theme, businesses often scale up to Shopify templates that offer more features. Premium themes range from $100 to $400.
  • Apps for Shopify: To extend the functionality of a Shopify store, businesses often pay to use third-party apps. The price varies from tool to tool, ranging from as little as $ 5 per month to hundreds of dollars.
  • Development and Design: In some cases, you will need to hire an expert Shopify web developer or designer to help you customize your online store and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Your time: Setting up a Shopify store will require an amount of your time.

What is Shopify Payments?

Shopify Payments is Shopify’s payment gateway. Payment gateways are integrated tools that process and authenticate payments within an online store, allowing customers to make payments without needing to go elsewhere. PayPal is the most well-known example, but others include Square and Stripe.

If you’re setting up a store with Shopify in the United States, it makes sense to use Shopify Payments as your payment gateway, since it reduces your transaction fees. It also allows you to view your payments in real-time. Its use is unrestricted, and you need to select it when setting up your Shopify store.

If you use another payment provider, an additional fee will be applied (Shopify charges a fee of between 0.6% and 2% per transaction, depending on your plan).

Why choose Shopify?

The best e-commerce platforms are all-in-one tools, such as Shopify, that enable you to set up an online store without requiring programming or web design skills.

The main feature we like about Shopify is that you don’t have to worry about web hosting, and its ability to handle orders efficiently.

The Shopify e-commerce features include:

  • Channels for sales are integrated, including eBay, Amazon, Facebook, and Instagram.
  • iOS & Android apps para gestionar tu tienda online desde cualquier lugar.
  • A system of integrated inventory.
  • Groups in collections to help keep your store organized.
  • Point-of-sale devices from the retail sector (Shopify POS) for selling in-store physical products.
  • An extensive App Store to add additional features to your online store.
