Which Wix plan should I choose?

Based on our Wix Review, these are the Wix plans I would choose to create a website or eCommerce:

  • If you need a personal website to add your work, blog, or portfolio, I would choose the Light plan.
  • If you want to create a professional website and accept online payments, I recommend the Core plan (from about 3,000 visits per month).
  • If you are a restaurant or hotel, you sell services and reservations, tickets to events, art, or digital contentSign up for an eCommerce plan, such as Business, which includes automated sales tax, or Business Elite, which adds custom reports.

Additionally, Wix offers over 2000 free templates, categorized by business type and industry, as well as blank templates for those who want to create a website from scratch.

Wix templates can be easily adapted to suit any type of website, including blogs, personal portfolios, and online stores, by simply dragging and dropping sections and elements to customize every page on your website.

Wix not only provides the necessary software to create websites, but also offers a free domain for one year. Additionally, you can connect a domain that you have already purchased from another domain registrar.

Let’s take a look at each of the Wix plans in detail:

Wix has four plans for websites and online stores. All plans include:

  • Free personalized domain for 1 year.
  • Removal of the Wix brand.
  • Reliable web hosting.
  • Customer service in English.
  • Native AI tools.
  • Access to the Wix App Market with native and third-party apps.

Let’s take a look at each of Wix’s plans and prices in detail:

Light ($17/month)

The most basic option is Light. It allows you to connect a domain that you have contracted with a domain registrar to the Wix servers and have two collaborators for $17/month.

Although it allows you to start launching your website, I do not recommend this plan if you want a professional website, as it only offers 2GB of storage space and 30 minutes of video.

Support is limited to email and chat, with a 24-hour response time.

Core ($29/month)

In my opinion, the Core plan would be the first plan I would recommend for creating a professional website, as it offers 50 GB of storage space and 5 hours of video, a significant upgrade compared to the Light plan.

In addition, you can accept online payments and create customer accounts. If you intend to sell your products or services on social networks or Marketplaces, this is the plan for you.

On the other hand, it includes an SEO Suite, two inventory locations, and professional logo design, among other Marketing and Sales features such as abandoned cart recovery.

Business ($39/month)

Wix claims that the Business plan is its most recommended plan for entrepreneurs and emerging brands.

Storage space is doubled to 100 GB, which is more than enough for a typical website with a few pages, accommodating up to 10 hours of video.

Apart from that, it shares all the features of the Core plan and includes enhanced eCommerce functions, such as automated sales tax, product reviews, multiple currencies, and support for up to 5 locations. You can find more info in our Wix eCommerce review.

This plan compares to the Shopify Basic plan, which is ideal for creating an online store with full eCommerce functionality.

Business Elite ($159/month)

Finally, the Business Elite plan includes advanced eCommerce and analytics features.

Starting at $159/month, you get unlimited storage space and video hours with the ability to have up to 10 store locations from a single Wix account.

It is the only website plan that includes customized, data-driven reports for informed decision-making.

Wix Enterprise

For those users who manage multiple sites and need integrations with third-party software tools and APIs, Wix is committed to its Wix Enterprise solution.

A platform on which a dedicated account manager is assigned, with powerful features such as Single Sign-On (SSO), 99.99% uptime, customized templates, and centralized billing.

Wix Free: Is It Worth It?

Although we recommend using Wix for free to get familiar with the platform, it is not a viable option if you want to publish a professional website.

This is because you cannot connect a custom domain, include Wix branding on your website, and no customer support is available. For more information, you can check out our review on what you can do with the free Wix plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here we answer the most frequently asked questions about Wix plans and pricing.

Does Wix offer a free domain name?

Yes, with the subscription to one of the Wix plans, you receive a free domain for 1 year. After the second year, the domain is paid separately, at a rate of between $10 and $15 per year.

Does Wix have a free plan?

Wix offers a free plan after creating an account. It is not a plan I recommend as it includes the Wix branding and does not allow you to connect a custom domain, which is a disadvantage for SEO positioning.

Can I send newsletters with Wix?

With a Wix website, you can send newsletters and create campaigns that utilize data analytics to track the send rate, open rate, and click-through rate.

Can I get an NGO discount with Wix?

Yes, you can get a non-profit organization discount or create a free account. This subscription is available only on an annual basis; it is not possible to pay every month.

To do so, it will be necessary to contact the billing department and request the requirements to accredit your NGO holder.

Can I migrate my Wix site to another website builder?

Yes, it is possible to migrate your Wix site to other website builders. However, the migration is not automatic, and some aspects must be performed manually.

Does Wix offer technical support?

All Wix plans include email and chat support, with an average response time of 24 hours. As you upgrade your plan, you get priority support and phone support.

How can I cancel my Wix subscription or account?

You can cancel your subscription at any time by following the steps outlined in the Wix Help Center article, “Close your Wix account.”

Conclusion

Following the update to the Wix plan and pricing structure, we believe the plans are now more comprehensive and well-defined.

If you have decided to create your website with Wix, we recommend starting with the Light plan, which costs $17/month and includes a free domain for one year.

I would not opt for the free plan, as it includes Wix branding, and it is not possible to connect your domain.

If, on the other hand, your idea is to create an online storeyou will need a plan that includes eCommerce features, such as Core ($29/month) or Business ($39/month), with access to more advanced features to take your online store to the next level.
